History:
The success of open top sightseeing
services in London led LT to look for replacements for its hired
in elderly OM Class. The search ended with the acquisition in
1977 of seven convertible open top Fleetlines from Bournemouth
Corporation. The vehicles being convertible led to them having
their roofs replaced in the winter as the sightseeing service
became a year round job. The vehicles also had PA systems fitted
and were repainted into London Transport livery, including white
band and gold fleet names. All seven worked through until 1981
from where they all started to go their separate ways. DMO3 continued
to work until 1984 when she was bought by Guide Friday for further
sightseeing use, this time in Stratford Upon Avon. DMO2 and 5
both went via Ensignbus to the USA, whilst two others went to
Sweden. |
